PUBLIC NOTICE is given that an application for a certificate of 

authorization to demolish a building for the following immovable:

35 Lakeshore 

was transmitted to the Demolition Committee. 

The Committee must render its decision within thirty (30) days of the reception of the application and intends to do so, during a public meeting at City Hall on Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at 7 p.m. 

Any person wishing to oppose the granting of a certificate of authorization to demolish a building must, within ten (10) days of publication of the public notice or within ten (10) days following the posting of the notice on any immovable concerned, make his or her objections known in writing to the City Clerk and Director of Registry and Public Affairs at 303 Beaconsfield Boulevard, Beaconsfield (Quebec) H9W 4A7.

This neglected property is one of six standing examples of beautiful nineteenth century country homes built by Mr. Menzies who was a friend and confidant/admirer of Benjamin Disraeli, the Earl of Beaconsfield, the most eminent British Prime Minister, after whom our fair city is named. This area is included in the "Grand répertoire du patrimoine bâti de Montréal" and #35 is the keystone building of the Menzies cottages, classified 3-stars in the Beaupré-Michaud Repertory of the city of Beaconsfield. The rear of the property is where the St Mary's in the Field church, built in 1882, was located and why we have an Old Church Road. This property has a long history with Farm 31, "Le Bocage" P.U.G. Valois, "Homestead" John H. Menzies Beaconsfield Vineyard, "The Grove" Francis-Upton, "Grove Point Hotel" Claude Hoskin and "The BYC" city of Beaconsfield (26 Lakeshore Road).
